If anybody can find an example I would be delighted to see it. The first Type had several recuts leading to Type 2 and Type 2 Recut 1 as described below. Surprisingly this latter mark was brought out of storage some six years after the LKD of Type 2.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Type 1<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/gbvictorianpostmarks.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/wp4a6eb025_0f.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-164\" src=\"http:\/\/gbvictorianpostmarks.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/wp4a6eb025_0f.jpg\" alt=\"wp4a6eb025_0f\" width=\"380\" height=\"227\" srcset=\"http:\/\/gbvictorianpostmarks.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/wp4a6eb025_0f.jpg 380w, http:\/\/gbvictorianpostmarks.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/wp4a6eb025_0f-300x179.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 380px) 100vw, 380px\" \/><\/a><strong>Characteristics:<\/strong> The \u2018normal\u2019 experimental design with four short bars each side of \u2018183\u2019. Damage to the letter \u2018R\u2019 (in the form of a small gap at the top) is shown on the Proof above and this was evident on all examples until the recut to make Type 2 as was the break on the right of the second long bar. Damage also occurred to the first \u2018E\u2019 with the top horizontal arm breaking off. I have seen\u00a0 examples dated 14th and 20th March 1856 where the damage is not evident but it is on the next example dated 7th May 1856. have been cut higher which interferes with the vertical leg of the letter \u2018R\u2019 which is now truncated. However, easier identification can be made via the dates. Why there was a gap of four years between the LKD of Type 2 and this Recut can only be guessed.
